If I ask a specific question looking for information here I will generally make an effort to say thanks if I get a helpful reply at least to the initial respondent(s). Sometimes I might genuinely forget as I'm away from pc for a while or something, but as a rule I think if someone has bothered to answer a specific question in detail I'll say thanks, and I know a lot of other people would do the same.

However I notice in some of mine and other posters detailed replies, that a lot of the OPRs haven't bothered with any acknowledgement whatsoever.

This kind of reminds me of the occasions where when you walk ahead of someone and keep the door open for them and they walk right through without saying thanks or anything... I remember when I worked in a multinational firm the women from one particular country, which I better not mention were prone to behaving like this, and it really used wind me up.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned

I agree, I dunno what makes the internet make people feel like they can act like dicks.

    I blame the parents.

    DeV.

ps: I held the door open for two women recently who walked through without so much as acknoledging my existance. I said "Don't mention it!" and when they turned around to look at me I continued "oh yeah, thats right.. you didn't!"

I try and say thanks when I ask a question and gets answers.
I don't balme the parents for people who don't. I reckon it was all those agnsty gamers n' nerds who lacked social skills myself, them being the originators of a lot of the "social" net. Like those Quake players!! :p

pet hate of mine... I'm old fashioned like this and always hold a door open for a woman but when they don't say thank you... I (in a loudish voice) always say "YOUR WELCOME"

I regularly have words with my wife over this as she accuses me of being ignorant when I say this to them......

Only manner to say thanks..... for anything in life....

    Mac

Gents welcome to equality, little old moi was in london 2 weekends ago, sitting the the tube and a woman got on with two young kids etc.

I very thoughfully immediately stood up and offered her my seat (I must point out though that she did have very large bazougas - so it was an EV+ move by me)

She focking ate the head off me, really went to town saying she's perfectly capable of standing and that she wasn't (and I quote) "a cripple" !!!!

    Bizarre.

I find its about a 50/50 mix (when holding the door open for women). 50% thank you, 50% glare at you as if you've just balanced your cock on their nose.
