The Hargreaves deal is still not done despite him having passed his medical. It appears to be dragging on a bit, I wonder why?

Don't quote me on the accuracy of this, but wasn't his medical a bit longer than usual because he's still recovering from his broken leg?

well that was a serious read from post 1 :)

seems to me united need another solid striker, winger and defender.

Hargreaves is in the bag. So thats that sorted, and i feel carrick and himself can perform a solid partnership, carrick has been held back a slight bit performing the holding role, but he will be unleashed this season and all the doubters over his big moeny move are gna get proven a wee bit wrong.

Up front the names popping up are Huntelaar, Eto, Tevez, Owen, Berbatov, Torres.

Lets look at the reality shall we.
Eto is Barcelonas main tallysman, and if he says he aint moving, he isnt gna move, end of.

Michael Owen cost an arm and a leg to newcastle, and i doubt they will want to leg him go without much return, it was his fault for joining such a rubbish team in the first place and hes gna have to stick it out unfortunately, also too prone to injury.

Tevez..... he played like 8 games, yeah he actually played more but only came into his own near the end of the season. Too much red tape surrounding him to get a move imo.

Berbatov. Spurs main man, spurs wna challenge for the top 3 next season, and i doubt they are gna sell the man that will lead their way. Hes not going anywhere.

Huntelaar. Ive seen alot of him at Ajax, an extremely talented player. Would be well suited to the physicallity of the premiership, shouldnt cost much and would be a great signing.

Torres. A skilled boy playing in a rubbish team. Everyone talks about his goalscoring record. He is playing in athletico madrid, have a look at their midfield and you will quickly learn exactly why he scores little, put him in the spanish team, and youll see how in the world cup he was wieing for the golden boot, quality striker, with proper supply will not fail.

For me id take huntelaar or torres, they are both looking for the big move and most likely to be moving around in the summer. One name that never gets a mention is klosse, a quality striker, now a bit aged, pity he never came to england to get the credit he really deserves.

In the midfield, hargreaves is already signed, so its done and done. Rhonaldhino looks set to be on the move this summer, why dont united launch in a bid? I think he would prefer a move to the premiership, as he talks alot with thierry henry who tells him how to be the best you have to do well in england.

Rhibbery is another possible target. Solid player, pace, tricks and can make things happen.

Morten Gamst pedersen. The one for me. Proven track record in the premiership and a great young player.

Shaun wright philips - arjen robben. For me these players could have been astonishingly brilliant had they being at united, the only team apart from arsenal where they would be suited. Every since mourinho changed to a mechanical grinding machine, these flare type players have been left to wallow on the side. With the introduction of ballack, enforcing tight midfield these players future at chelsea looks uncertain. Of course realisticly they would never be sold to united, at a reasonable price anyway. But if i could pick any player to go to united it would be robben.

Wesley sneijder looks set for a move to england also with villa showing interest. Good player with alot of talent could do well in a side that plays like united.

And then of course theres the little forgotten dutch man. Raphael van der vart. Made the move to Hamburrg, why i dont know. But a talented kid with an amazing passing ability....matched only by dennis bergkamp.

I watch most games from bundesliga, la liga, french championship and the dutch league, and these are the players that impress week in week out. And players like sneijder, huntelaar, van der vart. They are not going to cost an arm and a leg.

And for left back, the young german polski had a pretty good world cup as a kid basically... worth a look.

I wish thiswas the case as a villa fan but he seems spain bound, i would agree about quite a few of the strikers though and believe Eto'o and Berbatov should really stop being linked to clubs as there virtually 0% chance of them moving this summer IMHO.

Not a fan of Hargreves at all. Certainly don't think he's worth the interest United have had in him. That said, I didn't rate Carrick either so maybe he'll do well.

That said, having both him and Carrick at the club will be interesting. Personally, I'd have thought entering the chase for Sidwell would have been a smarter move.

Job for the england manager is gonna be an absolute nightmare now. We all know by this stage its practically written into their contract to play the big 4's players, so for CM when it was Gerrard and Lampard at least there were only two, but what are they gonna do now and Hargreaves and Carrick in there too? Especially if they perform next year! poor Maclarens heads gonna explode trying to force all these "names" onto one teamsheet!

what odds now, i wonder, on him at least once fielding a team with hargreaves and carrick CM, Lamps on the left, Gerrard on the right? With Cole as second striker.

I think it'll be funny really, cause say United are winning the league with a combination of Hargreaves and Carrick, but Gerrard once again underperforms in the league, and Lampard isn't at his usual best.
Are they really gona drop Lampard and Gerrard? In terms of getting an England spot, I think Carrick will be happy, cause if he can form a partnership, I can see United's midfield being like Milans,
one destructive holding player - Hargraves/Gattuso
one creative from deep player - Carrick/Pirlo
    one electric player - Ronaldo/Kaka

That'd be an interesting team for Europe.

p.s. Eto might be on the move, because of his fall out with the club, because it looks like either he or Ronaldinho will leave, Eto is a possibility.

will Foster, Evans, Pique and Rossi break through next year? i hope they do anyway.

Foster - excellent season, he is ready.
Pique - excellent season in topflight Spanish league, should be ready.
Rossie - poor time at newcastle, 9 seria A goals in Itlay, excellent since february.
Evans - brilliant at Antwerp, then excellent step up at sunderland. But question is, can he step up again. Im not quite sure yet but going on his international displays, i have high hope for him

i also am loosing fate in van der sar, though he has been the best since the great dane. foster will prob get to play alot of games next year. so, assuming we dont sign anybody else (ill include hargreaves), which shouldn happen but is a real possibility, here would be my first choice squad of 18 for european game.

    foster
    neville - vidic - rio - evra
    hargreaves
    scholes carrick
    ronaldo giggs
    Rooney

    Van der Sar
    Browne
    Pique
    Heinze
    Saha
    Rossi
    Fletcher

    also -

    Park
    O Shea
    Evans
    Smith
    Ole
    Silvestre

if you look at the above list, our squad is very very strong.

    .
was watching the valencia match last week and my word pique played brilliant stuff for zaragoza in midfield

    great tackler

Yeh, there are lots and lots of diffferent sources reporting that Pique is coming back to be 3rd choice CB next season, which I think means bye bye Brown.

    Pique is cracking.
    Rossi is cracking
Foster isn't there yet, but give him some time under VDS for a season, then he'll be ready to step up
Evans is still a couple of years away imo

I think next seasons striker squad will be

    New Striker, Rooney, Rossi, Ole/Smith

Rossi will become the third choice striker imo.

I wouldn't give up entirely on Saha yet....He didn't have all that bad a season in fairness!!! Bar the injuries of course!

If Rossi is 3rd choice, who is on with Rooney?? If it were me, it'd be smith!!!

Brown provides decent cover at RB, Pique's comin back would not necessarily mean the end of Browns united career.

As as I'm concerned getting rid of squad players and not replacing them could be a mistake as Chelsea found out last season...and I don't see where the funds are gonna come from if Man U are to replace Saha / Heinze / Brwon if there's all this talk of big-bucks transfers of Berbatov or Eto'o or whoever...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Well like, I think Bardsley is also on his way back to provide cover at RB, and he's shown he can do a decent job of it in the past.
I think if Pique returns, Browns career at United will be over to be honest.

Chelsea's problem is that they have no youth system, we have a large amount of them who can step in and are pretty good, Pique Rossi Evans Foster will all be great additions to the squad.

The news is not so good on Gibson. His form has trailed off in the 2nd part of the season apparently. Some Antwerp fans aren't happy, accusing him of being lazy.

I haven't seen much of him myself TBH but I have read about him on some dedicated United Fora and he is highly rated by most there.

    link?

dunno much about anderson, is he really that good? i've heard he was 2the new ronaldinho" but he looks like the type of player who goes down far too much to survive in prem from what little i've seen.

well all i can say is WOW at the speed at which Nani was signed. i would have thought that had the making of a transfer saga that would go on for months! wonder what the figure's are...

also, anyone know what the status of anderson citizenship is? does have EU passport? surely he's a bit young for being granted a work permit...

he's awfully fond of nearly running the ball into the net!

they must have acted fast on the nani deal since spurs were sniffing around. Hopefully one of them can take freekicks!
