I starting on a new fitness regime as its time to loose the fat (again), this time the right way.

I'm trying to put together a programme that should keep me interested and motivated.

I've decided to combine HIIT and weights sessions.
I'm a liitle unsure if its a good idea to do HIIT after weight training so am thinking of a weekly routine like this :-

HIIT (treadmill) - Weights - HIIT (bike) - Weights - HIIT (treadmill) - Day Off - Day Off

As my fitness reaches an acceptable level I'll probably want change to Weights three days and HIIT two days instead.

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

You can do all the LIT, HIIT and weight lifting you want but unless your diet is clean and healthy then you ain't going to moving no flab.

Even if you were to eat properly your weight will come off before you even step into the gym, it's the first change to make.

Erm thanks Kenny, am well aware that the diet needs changing, I was looking for advice on the fitness side of things though.

HIIT on a treddie is difficult. It takes the motor even longer to crank up than my old bones so the change in intensity isn't as dramatic as needed for proper HIIT.

hey do you ever consider doing some high intensity crossfit style workouts? There are great for your endurance. Heres a link that wasabi gave me a few months ago. Basically there is a no equipment needed WOW. Basically its just another option http://skievat.blogspot.com/. Its great for when you cant get to the gym

With regard to HIIT if you are just starting out training then running walking intervals on the threadmill will give you a HIIT workout but if your more advance and can run for a decent amount of time then sprints etc might be more appropriate for you.

You could just do both in one workout - build muscle and develop cardio vascular strength and increased lung capacity using HIIT body weight cals. For instance 3 mins dynamic stretching, immediately followed by 2 minute Medium to High Hindu's / 2 min recovery, 90 seconds High Hindu's / 2 min recovery, 1 min / 2 min recovery, and finally 30 secs SUPER FAST HIIT Hindu's and 2 min recovery.

Alternatively you could do 2 sets Hindu's, 2 set lunges and 2 sets Jump squats Day 1. Crunches, Leg levers, and sissors Day 2, and Pushups, Dips and Back Extentions Day 3.

That looks interesting ali.c , thanks. Do you have any links to sites that detail the exercises?, I've googled it but so far just am finding commercial sites looking to sell the programme.

Thanks Boru, I like the idea of combining both - sounds more fun. I haven't come across the term "Hindu" before in this context, just what is it?

Sorry a bit confused, a link to a site with instructions on how to do the excercises? She links to cross-fit and i have to say i think they have great instructional videos on how to perform them.
