"taking it back to its roots" would mean the inclusion of marines (the type from Aliens) and be set in the future. Instead a group of locals band together to survive their quant town?? "Tremors" anyone?

but they're planning to make it more an emotional film than an action/horror. They're focusing on how the alien and the predator meet and how their conflict gives way to love and how their relationship eventually breaksdown with a messy custody battle over the hybrid.

Back to its roots translates into: Well, the last film was a complete flop so this time we're gonna go back again and look at the old films and see what made them so successful. Then, we're going to surgically remove those parts, slap them into our new hunk of crap, slap a bit of PR and Advertising magic on it and sit back and laugh as the money rolls it.

Still, a nice "R" rating, so that should be interesting...

Alien vs. Predator, what a complete frickin waste of so much potential. It could have been brilliant, really brilliant. What happened to the future, crashed ship, marines, planet with aliens, predators hunting them, no no, they made some stupid story about a pyramid under the north pole that belonged to the aztecs who used to worship predators who... unbelievable.

As a fan of both Alien and Predator movies, I lay awake crying at night when I think of AVP. The one fight between the alien and predator is good, but the rest is sooo bad.:(
