Power Surge on USB

Hi there, I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop running windows XP. I recently got a new ipod and have been having no problems until today. Upon trying to connect the usb cable I got a pop up message saying 'Power surge on USB hub, the USB hub has exceeded it's power limit.' Now this happened before once or twice, but I just plugged out the cable and plugged it back into a different USB port with no problems. But today it just won't work on any of the 4 USB ports. The same message comes up as soon as I plug in the ipod. Anybody else got any experience with this? Is there a setting I can change?

Have you rebooted the laptop and tried again ?

Yea, I already tried twice. I'll give it another lash.

Edit: on the third reboot it worked! Third time lucky I suppose.

Sounds like your iPod it drawing more current then the USB port is actually putting out?
