Veronica Mars is Cancelled

In a press conference following the CW UpFronts, network president Dawn Ostroff officially revealed to some very disappointed reporters that, “Veronica Mars is not coming back.” Additionally, when asked about the mid-season possibilities or the much talked about FBI scenario — Ostroff shot that down as well saying, “It’s not going to happen.”

A few more questions were tossed Ostroff’s way, but the tone of her answers were pretty clear. She loved the show, Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell. But VERONICA MARS season four simply isn’t going to happen. Let the mourning begin.

Ah well.. could it not be picked up by another station next year? Seems possible!

Tuesday's night episode (which i was last night) was absolutely atrocious though. The season has been mostly average to downright muck so not that pushed really.

As poor as it has been (and it's been pretty poor at times compared to its own high standards), it's still a big loss. I could just watch Veronica and Keith sit in a room together for 40 minutes and it'd be more appealling than the majority of shows currently airing.

It's a shame Rob Thomas simplified the show so much this season. What made season two so great was the wealth of storylines and narrative threads. Season three was still excellent though, and far better than popular shows like Lost and Heroes. RIP.

It was a victim of it's own success. Season one was superb, Veronica stuck in the fridge and the whole season final is one of the best pieces of television in a long time but season 2 tried to go down the route of "And now, ANOTHER big mystery for Nancy Drew to solve" and it didn't work as well. The final was a big let down IMHO. I'm still torn on season 3. So far I've seen up to the end of the first arc and I do think it harmed the show to be so simplified but it did feel less sensational.

I hear the season final gives no closure so that's a big pity.

A shame. The first two seasons were terrific. Have yet to see Season 3 (no Trouble) but will be ordering the DVD from the New World once it's released - average Veronica Mars is still thouroughly enjoyable television (although all this better than Lost or Heroes talk is dodgy).

But young Veronica will join the graveyard, proudly resting beside Freaks & Geeks, Firefly and the rest - cult shows the powers that be didnt know how to handle.

I think Veronica Mars has turned into exactly what it sounded like when I first heard about it. American teen show crossed with Nancy Drew. However the first season was not that, it was dark and thoughtful. It had a good story, engaging characters who developed over the course of the series and a two great mysteries, who killed Lily and who raped Veronica. The second of the two which was concluded fabulously. (Until the season 2 retcon).

Season 2 had potential but it was badly thought out and the pacing of the season mystery and the reasoning behind the conclusion were not well plotted. The only great episode was was the one where Veronica visited Hearst.

Season three while not bad teen tv is such a shadow of what the series was that it is sad to see. It's hard to care about the characters when I liked them so much better two years ago. The series also spends too much time paying hommage (or imo, attempting to ride the coat-tails of) more popular series such as the Willow/Cordy meeting in season 2 and the constant BSG references in season 3.

Man i love this show. Why oh why do i bother getting into a show only for it to be cancelled.
I loved season 1, but thought season 2 better; and this season i have been watching on trouble, and it just isn't as good as the previous ones but still quality. Hopefully it goes out with a bang and not just hanging like you're waiting for the next season.

it's a good show, but my god season 3 is so hard for me to watch, not as much suspense, twists and turns as previous seasons.

probably for the best that it gets cancelled.

I wasn't that sad to see it go until I watched the last two episodes. Together they were excellent. It sucks that there was no closure. Imho it returned to season 1 form just too late.

It looks like fans want Veronica Mars back like the u-turn on Jericho, looks like theyre going to bombard network president Dawn Ostroff with mars bars & other sorts of confectionery. Sweet :D

watched episode 6 on Trouble last week and thought it was a near perfect mix of all the different storylines and characters in the show. Hoping that the standard gets maintained. I'm actually loving the college setting for the show. suits it a helluva alot better in my opinon!
