how do they make these lists.
unicare: If you are a pharmacist they pay very well with no experience, offer bonuses to keep you and pay your rent. even so they seem to have a high turnover of these staff because it's basically a horrible company to work for.
If you're not a pharmacist they poop on you.

Well they claim it's done by employee surveys:

Don't believe these lists. I used to work in a place that made the top 50 last year and it was bull****. People were told what to say, what not to say, certain people were cherry-picked to give their "opinion" and certain people higher up the ranks basically took over and influenced the entire outcome. Also, companies have to pay for the privilege of being considered and to have the survey carried out on their workforce.

These things are one of the various programs the HR department look after in most comapanies. It helps influence how the company is perceived to the outside world. Thats all really

Our company got into the top 50 this year - and while there was a certain "push" from management we all had the chance to fill out the online survey. However I'm not sure what percentage of this goes towards the overall final score.

...from what I remember only 130 (-ish) companies applied. So, if your company is not too bad overall than it should not be that hard to make it into the top 50.

It's mainly to plug the company - but it should give a good indicator that the company is generally ok to work.

...oh, and only the top 10 are announced (the order of results from 11 to 50 are not published).

I second that - I know of a very highly placed Irish Company who has Team Leaders standing over poor Employees as they fill out these questionaires. The company itself is sh1te with low pay, zero prospects & respect given and a HUGE turnover of staff - but they don't give a fcuk and have no problem recruiting new victims

Can we name any of them or can we give clues as to what companies people are referring to...
