Has anyone watched this series? It's quite pointless, and quite sick, but I'd never heard of it before a few days ago when it was casually mentioned to me..

Just seems to be really sick for the sake of it. I haven't watched all of the series yet, but the second one in particular was really disgustingly gruesome.

Yeah, I remember seeing number 2, and some of 4.

They're definetly sick for the sake of it, what with most of them being fake snuff films. Not something I'd like to see again really.

Saw Number 2 - Flower Of Flesh & Blood, very gory but completely pointless -
Basically 45 mins or so of a woman being tortured
no story or anything. Just looked at its imdb entry, gore effects were very good for something developed in 1985.

I wouldn't say it's pointless, because it's certainly had a point, eg; making a realistic looking snuff film.

The films are really only famous because of the controversy surrounding them, such as having inspired a real-life serial killer, Tsutomu Miyazaki who supposedly modelled one of his killings after Guinea Pig 2, and the whole thing with Charlie Sheen having seen 2, and contacting the FBI.

Well, fair point, I thought I was sitting down to watch plot based film a plot the first time I saw it, not a snuff flick.
