    Hi Folks,
You know the one - an advertisement for "enhanced" emoticons. It's is doing my head in.
Does the creator of that think that this is doing anything positive for the internet?
I'd post a link to it, but it's an embedded Flash object, and I don't want to introduce it to people who haven't already seen it, lucky sods.
As a Mac user it's one of those annoyances that you just can't escape.
It enough to turn off my speakers, make me hate the internet.

Why do poeple make up these hateful, hateful things?

    S.

I saw this once on bebo. Extremely annoying. I immediately blocked it.

    I recommend Firefox with Adblock.

The first time I heard that it scared the **** outta me! Feckin eejit who came up with that. I've seen a few different versions of it since, one that whistles and another with a female voice. The whistling one is by far the most annoying. Feckin smilies, whos bothered with them anyways?

The ones around Valentine's were worse. Remember sitting looking at something (with my speakers up louder than i'd previously though) and all of a sudden, this little smiley shouts in a big gruff voice:

"I'm counting down the minutes til i can be with you again!"

That feckin' haunts me to this very day...!

No, the worst one is when the cat "Meow's". Here's me listening to my tunes, chilled, and I go on some site which "Meow's" at me... and my dog goes bloody mental:confused:

    It's similar to a "shock-tactic" advert I think.
One which everybody talks about, but nobody buys the product based upon the advert, and makes even more people not buy the product simply based upon the advert.
E.g. Why to CocaCola need to spend millions on advertising? Just to keep the brand name familiar.

    But I digress.
This is the single most annoying advert on the internet, closely followed by the ones that appear on top of a webpage (e.g. u.tv), but have no obvious "close" button.
I've stopped going to regular websites purely because of these.

I stopped using IE 6 years ago. I used Firefox on PCs for 3 years, which was fantasic.
Then I moved to Mac, which was even better, but Firefox is still playing catchup on the Mac OS.
Currently using Camino, but back on topic.

Firefox and Adblock plus, my friends.

No bloatware browser and invasive advertising here (I get enough of that on bloody tv), and this comes from a former IE7 user :)
