    Hey Folks,

I was thinking about popping down to Wexford for a day from Dublin, possibly a saturday. I'd be heading down with the missus if I was. Is there anything to do or see if I was to go there. My apologies, I'm not to familiar with Wexford town. She's more interested in scenery/outdoors rather than pubs and restaurants etc. Is it worth going for a day?

Well worth heading down for the day!

Depends what your into.. there are nice enough walks on the beach / through woods in Curraclow and on the slobs.
Rosslare is also nice though both of these places will be getting crowded from now on.

If you say what you want to do / see, then I'm sure we can help ya out!

    Hey thanks man,

Well I guess we'll be taking the train/bus to Wexford town and ideally we'd like to be outdoors, so any nice walks would be good. Any old buildings etc to visit? Basically we're into sight seeing, rather than shopping etc.

Not too much detail I know, but I'm not sure what attractions Wexford has!!

The heritage centre would be a nice place to visit, crannogs old viking boats and general old irish history its just outside the town. They have done up the harbour realy nice and there is boat trips now. and yea the beach and forest at curracloe is class, there is a horse riding school in curracloe who do trips out if you were into that...
    enjoy

Heritage centre is worth a visit..
Bus gets in to Wexford, so its a bout a 30min walk (seven minute taxi!) to the centre.

It lasts a couple of hours, and its right on the river.
    http://www.inhp.com/ is the website.

Wexford town is also quite nice to wander around, it has various historical buildings and the like

I know I'm a bit biased but I think Wexford town is a lovely spot to visit. Personally hate shopping but love the bustle along North & South Main Streets. Often walk along there in one direction, along the quay in the other direction - some nice seats. Apart from Heritage Park, Johnstown Castle and Wexford Wildfowl Reserve are two other outdoor attractions. Only problem will be fitting them into one day, especially if you've not got a car.

Wexford Quality Hotel is reasonable value if you want to stay a night or two - also there are some good B&B's in town, recommendations available on www.tripadvisor.com.

Cool folks, my mind is made up that we'll either visit this saturday or sometime very soon.

One other thing, is there much to see in Gorey at all, or is there nothing there for the day traveller?

Id agree with the post above, you could do and see a lot more with a car, but still worth your while heading down if its just for the day. I'd recommend going out to hook head if you can at all, great spot for scenery and the "haunted" loftus hall is closeby too. Still though, you'd find plenty to do in Wexford town if you were down for just the day. There's some nice shopping spots on main street, and try 'sky in the ground' or the stores for lunch, you wont be disappointed.

Well we went and enjoyed it. The town is really nice. We met up with a mate from Wexford town and he drove us around. Saw the EPA castle and grounds, it was fantastic.
