    Hey,

We are heading California direction for ours. Heading for 3 weeks to have a bit longer, but San Fran would offer good 5 star options. You could always go to LA too - Santa Monica looks like a great spot.

There are also beautiful resort towns outside San Diego that are meant to be fab - La Jolla sounds like a beautiful spot.

La Jolla is ok but you can't spend more than a day there, Santa Monica is an afternoon at best. Better to drive the entire CA coast.

    Wouldn't agree..

We spent two weeks driving around California and taking in Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Visited San Fran, Yosemite, Monterey, Carmel, the Big Sur Coast, LA and San Diego. We took a week to chill out in La Jolla at the end and it was just fabulous. Rented a gorgeous house and just had a relaxing week on the beach. It depends what you're looking for. It was like a week's sun holiday at the end of a pretty active road trip, and just the thing to do before heading home. It's a beautiful little town with nice restaurants, bars and beaches.

Also, we used Santa Monica as a base for LA and spent three nights there which we really enjoyed. If I were visiting LA again I'd stay there again instead of Hollywood/Beverly Hills or downtown LA..
