Haven't not used my Sigma 28/70 2.8ex for quite a while I was surprised/dissapointed/pissed to see that the AF motor has seized on it. Stuck solid. It will freely manually focus though. This is the second sigma lens this has happened on,the first, a 70/200 2.8 had a fall, fair enough, cost me €200 to fix. The 28/70 hasn't moved from my bag, not been used or abused so I have no idea how it happened. It's turned me off sigma, I had been a fan of the good optics and cheaper prices up to now, I think I'll stick with canon in the future.

Bugger, the only thing is that it should be quite cheap to fix seeing as nothing was really damaged in the first place. Looks like the lube may have dried up is all.
The again though it could be well and truly shagged also

I didn't think the word 'cheap' could be used in a sentence concerning camera/lens repair in this country;) but you have raised my hopes slightly Roen.
I gave the 70/200 to cons to fix and they sent it back to sigma, which turned out to be that place up at porto bello. The only benifit with cons is that they seem to get things fixed faster. I left a camera into porto bello (sorry can't remember name) and it took four months to fix. Any alternatives in Dublin to the two mentioned.

You haven't recently switched camera bodies, or anything like that?
I had a Sigma 70-300mm lens that wouldn't work on my digital SLR.
Just traded it in for a Canon EF lens.
If it is actually seized, I'd stop using it completely, until you get it checked out. Very likely to be the lube, which should be easy to resolve.

Same thing happened to my 105 macro.

150 to repair, and I have no recollection of anything bad happening to it.
