    Two probs

1st a health prob and just curious (its nothing serious, just wanting to know general advice) whats the story with a wisdom tooth, if you have one does it definately mean it will have to be taken out? And my wisdom tooth is just appearing and is very far back in my gum (away from other teeth) is that a good thing or a bad thing.

    2nd
Personall problem incase i do need to go to a dentist cuase there is some pain already, i have a huge huge huge phoebia of dentists, i just cant go through with it, lying awake with a dentist in my mouth and doing all sorts of other things, is there away i can get around that, is it possible to go to a dentist who can put you asleep for it or how do i go about going to the dentist without putting my self through my phoebia.

1st question will need to be answered by a dentist. Having a wisdom tooth does not necessarily imply it will need to be removed. A dentist will probably need to do some xrays to see that all is fine and dandy with the wisdom teeth.

2nd question, all you need do is tell this to whatever dentist you are going to. As I've never had a phoebia about the dentist I can't advise you of one to go to but I'm sure others will be able to help you there.

Also there is a dental issues forum here at http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=627

Well, I used to be a Dental Nurse and although most people encounter some problems with their wisdom teeth, not everybody does. Some people have no bother at all with them. Personally, I had all 4 taken out but was asleep for the process. The healing period afterwards was very painful but strong painkillers will sort that out. The general practise is that you're awake unless you're getting 2, 3 or all of them out in one go. However, most Dentists are very accomodating and understand that a lot of people have a fear of the Dentist and so will put you to sleep if they feel it's necessary.
It really isn't as bad as you'd fear anyway.

First up the good news the space between your other teeth and the wisdom tooth is a good sign, as the one of the main reasons for getting them out would be that they are squashing your existing teeth together because of a lack of space in the jaw. The wisdom tooth area may just be painful if it is still growing through the gum line.

Do go and get a reccomendation for a nice friendly dentist just to be sure, they are not going to do anything during a checkup so you have nothing to lose and they might just have good news for you :) .
