    Hi all,

Just to remind you all about this event, I drove the approx. 80
mile route on Monday and I think it contains something for everyone.
It would be great to see people in costumes to match their cars too,
Last year we had a rally suited couple with their mk.1 escort amongst
    others.
All pre-82 cars are welcome no matter where they were made!!

Looking forward to seeing some of you on the day,

    Dave

    Everyone,

Just to follow up on the above post. This is by far and away the best rally of the summer season and it’s essential that you don’t miss it. I’ve taken part in it for the last 5 years and it just gets better and better with all types of rally enthusiast being catered for.

We start and finish with a static display in Enniskerry to show off the fruits of your labour while you relax with a morning cup of coffee and later on some light refreshments.
For those of you who just like to cruise for the day, the routes that are taken are some of the most scenic in the whole of Wicklow, with a great variety of forest, country and sea side roads being used. Those that feel their competitive streak coming out can get involved in timed regularities throughout the course while adhering to a predefined average speed depending on the vehicles age. Finally for those with children or in saloons, they have the option of the ever entertaining observation tests that are both fun and challenging for children and adults.

A huge amount of time and effort has gone into the preparation of this rally by the Leinster motor club and thier friends so its definitely not a day to be missed.

Looking to seeing you all there so drop by the white Jag to say hi!

The cost of entry is €20 and is well worth it.

    Hope to see you there...

By the way there are some very interesting cars already entered in the event so get in contact with

    Hi everyone,

This is a last reminder of the Leinster Rally taking place tomorrow starting and finishing in the Summerhill House hotel.

Entries will be taken on the day and the overall cost is €20.

I would urge those readers who are interested in seeing a snapshot of motoring history to come to the Summerhill House Hotel, Enniskerry tomorrow Sunday 17th June between 10.00am and 11.30am where the cars will be on display before leaving for Avondale House in Rathdrum where again the cars will be on display from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. The cars return to Enniskerry and again will be on display from 4.00pm to 6.00pm.

Hope to see you all there....

Thanks Stratos glad you enjoyed the day.
However the future of this event is in doubt due to lack of entries. We had 27 entries and to cover our costs would need to see closer to 60. We are having a meeting soon to discuss this and I would like to know what people
want from a run like this. We used to have a dinner with the prizegiving
but dropped it this year to reduce the entry fee but this did not seem to boost entries so it would seem cost is not a factor,or is it
To put the numbers in perspective it takes 15 people to run this event
on the day and countless man hours beforehand especially on the part
of the clerk of the course who was the man who restarted this great
    event 6 years ago.
So you lads and lassies are the ones with the cars what do you want
    from an event ?
Post your suggestions here and I'll bring them to our meeting, also if we
could get bigger entries we could possibly run more than 1 of these
    events a year.

    Thanks for your help,

    Dave

Do enough people know about it ??

Could you not do some radio advertising a week or two ahead of the event, surely there are some DJ's who are car enthusiasts and may plug it for free !

Also inform all the members of the other Club, there are contact details at the top of this section !!

I would definitely have gone had I known about it in advance, as it happened my wife booked us into a hotel in town.....................ironically we then went for a spin through the mountains on Sunday !!

I would say the main reason is very few people knew about it.
The first I heard of it was a few days beforehand.

I also think reading the rules about the nature of the run may have put some people off, I have been on many car runs and have never encountered one with this timed dimension before. (To me as a complete newbie to this event the rules made it sound like a very serious affair, when in fact it was very laid back)
An explanation of how it works may have helped new folk.

I would love to attend this run again, I do enjoy the social tootling around the countryside at 20 mph in convoy runs, it gets a bit boring though. This event however is a little different and if you wish, gives you the chance to stretch your cars legs a little.

The price I thought was excellent value for money and the morning coffee was a very good touch, I believe coffee and sambo's were available after the run too.

I hope this run keeps going I will certainly add it to my yearly calendar and for my own part get it included in the calendar of events of my own classic club.
