Heads Up Tournie: Draw for Preliminary Round & Round 1

    Closed Accounts Posts: 4,720 ✭✭✭

EDIT: PLEASE POST RESULTS IN THIS THREAD

    Please see draw below:

as there were 154 entrants, a Preliminary round is required to eliminate the excess players. Therefore some of you will have to play two matches before 1st June.

For the players involved in the Preliminary round, please make all efforts to complete your matches quickly (preferably within 1 week) so that this does not drag on past 1 June.

Anyone who is already in Round 1 proper and not waiting for a Preliminary round game to complete can of course play their game straight away.

The draw for Round 2 will take place on 1st June.

Do not use this thread for arranging matches with your opponent - please do this via PM directly with your opponent. You can post smack talk here of course ;) - also any queries about the tournament structure (although I have posted the rules below the draw).

Please post the results of your matches in this thread. Mods will then update the tournament in this post by bold highlighting the winner's names.

Players in italics have bounties on their heads (botte of Spiced Gold for rag2gar and a copy of Super System for rounders123)

Right, I'm off on holidays until 26th May and Ste05 has kindly offered to police this in my absence so post all queries here or PM him. Ste, can you please sticky this and unsticky the original thread?

<slinks backwards out of room leaving chaos behind>

    The Rules:

    The tournament works as follows:

    1. The game is poker (duh) - any variant that the two players in each match can agree between themselves. Presumably NLHE will be the variant of choice but you can go ahead and play Southern Cross with wild 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s for all I care.
You can play at any online site (or live) for any stakes (play money if you like) that are mutually acceptable.
Please note that this tournament is primarily for fun and bragging rights and should be entered into in that spirit.

    2. Each match is best of three. This should hopefully reduce the luck factor and ensure that the best player wins.

    3. It is up 100% up to the two players in each match to arrange and complete their match before the deadline for each round to complete.
If one player in the pairing cannot play before the deadline (and the other player has made reasonable efforts to contact him/her and arrange the match), then he/she forfeits.
Plead all hardship cases (holidays/imprisonment etc) to the tournament organisers.

    4. Matches can be played live or online. Again, it's at the discretion of the two players in each match. Hopefully, last year's format of live semis and finals in a casino will be repeated.

    5. It's an FA Cup style draw. Each round must be completed by a certain date. Once that date is reached, the full list of winners will be drawn again to determine the next round of matches etc and so forth....
If we do not get a suitable number of contestants, then a preliminary round will be required to get us down to an appropriate number (like 128 or 64 or whatever).

    6. Tournament organiser's rulings are final and irrevocable (unless you feel the need to bribe me with a house or anything Mr PT...)

There will be a prize befitting the enormity of the competition, however the true prize will surely be being able to brag of your achievement for one whole calendar year

PLEASE POST RESULTS IN THIS THREAD

What about Bops vs Gholi, if Gholi wins his preliminary round? Looks as random as the IO TV table selection process to me.

27 preliminary matches eliminates 27 players

leaving 128 for first round proper

    LOL yourself with knobs on.

Would be great if somebody drew up odds for some of these matchs.

    Eg Hectorjelly 5/6 V Marq 5/6

I remember shortstack did it for the original boards game in the emporium, would be great to see it done again.

How are you meant to actually sync the heads up games. Nearly all the HUs SnGs around the $11-55 fill quickly on stars and party.
I guess ringing them is always an option.

We played $5 headsup on ipoker. Not much traffic around there. pm's or msn is handiest for synching

MSN or gmail chat. Oh and cheers for the easy 1st round. Rob lacey shouldn't be too hard!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 189 ✭✭CoolBoardr

Its hard to sync the games up - you can join a quiet play money table and try time it from the chat in there.

If anyone wants, I can setup private tourneys on stars - only problem is they have to start at a specific date. Minimum buyin is $5. PM me if you want this.

Edit: And the start time needs to be at least an hour from the current time.

flop is 2KK wahoooo, check check
9 on turn, check check again, shocking i know
9 on river, i bet 60 into a 80 pot and nagran raises to 120 and i call, he has k7!!

Only just caught up with this, very speedily organised.

I will see if I can get some private HU tables on GJP set up for this to save the hassle finding free tables.

I will find out in the morning whether it is possible. Skin only ones might work well enough.

If you've got a real money account with Party you cannot play the play money tables. I thought all the play money tables were 'cash' games too?

Just give him a walk over. Thats probably the cheapest way out.
PPP have $5 HU games, but that can work out very expensive if it goes to a decider.
