Some Probate Questions

Just a quick question with regards probate. Concerning a will concerning large sums of money, once probate has passed, is there any reason why inheritance can not be administered immediately, or is there typically a waiting time?
For instance, if probate was passed in February, should the money be released by now? Or does it seem like something fishy is going on?

It genuinely depends and you ought to ask the executor as to what is the hold up as they are ultimately responsible for the distribution of money, etc. I mean, the solicitor for the estate will be doing the work, but should be keeping the executor in the loop.

It's quite possible, for instance, that there are a number of assets which need to be taken care of and the Grant of Probate can only 'deal' with one asset at a time (altho' duplicate copies are available for a nominal fee)

Ask the executor what the story is...
