    recently bought a macbook
really impressed with some of teh features n mac os x
used the OS already when i was workin up in apple
was well impressed with it so decied to buy mac
however i have been met with situations now where i cant do teh most basic of things such as unzipping files etc, but i suppose this will all improve in time once i learn how.
However there is still a lot of features in windows that i miss, but from the security and stability point of view, I'd trust my mac over a windows machine any day of teh week.
I used linux in college a few years back but wasnt that impressed with its interface, thought it was very bland.
but since brickey has posted up those youtube vids, im starting to wonder abt it
so il conclude by saying mac is my favourite, cos its secure, stable, loadsa keyboard shortcuts, loads of fantastic little programs/widgets that make computing much better.
Thats not to say i dont like windows, i still miss a few features from there, such as the 'save target as' option that allows u to specify a specific location to safe to, whereas mac only offers desktop, musics, vids, pics, and recent (if u no how to specific an exact folder/subfolder,please let me know)
but i also like the mac since i can install windows with ease.
I can have the best of both worlds this way.
whereas if i bought a windows machine, id be fairly restricted in terms of OS' i can install, unless Bricky has managed to install mac os x successfully and tracked down some drivers!

I'd have second thoughts about linux, i hear its v difficult to track down drivers for h/w - this to me is a major drawback.
so let us know what your favourite OS is and why
    Ed

I moved to mac from windows five months ago and i love the mac os system.

I have windows on my mac also and only use it when i have too.

There are ways around things and there are some guys in here that can help you.

I come into this forum everyday, sometimes i will not log in, i just read a message or two and leave. I find thats the best way to learn about mac.

I can never see myself moving bak to windows and leaving mac. I find i know more about computers now that i am a mac user because mac is fun to use. Although i am still way behind some of the guys in here. I have a friend and he has been using mac for years and when he sat down in front of my computer and showed me what it could do my jaw dropped, i was amazed, i still can't do the amazing stuff he showed me, but i am slowly getting there.

Just drag the folder from finder onto the drop-down menu and it'll appear.

oh yeah, heres a cool trick. lets say you are not using ical on your dock, just click onto it and drag it off the bar and watch it go up in smoke. (don't worry you can still find ical in finder ) then drag something into the place of ical if you want. Now that is cool.

you've been staring at the answer to this everytime you save something...

when you go to a save dialog box, look at where you can type in a filename....ok now look to the immediate right of this, there's a box with a downward arrow......click it!!

    presto
