Just watching Sky News and the police are searching the house of the translator in the abduction case. He is a british man.

A new search of an apartment near to the one where Madeleine McCann disappeared in Portugal more than a week ago is under way.

Still missing: Madeleine McCannPolice are searching a villa just 100 yards from the apartment where Madeleine's family were staying.

The house, known as Casa Liliana, was sealed off with tape by police while men in white suits and masks began a search inside.

Police guards were on the doors outside.

Sky News Correspondent Ian Woods said the property being searched belonged to Jennifer Murat and her son Robert Murat.

Mr Murat has been assisting Sky in its coverage of the disappearance of the four-year-old British girl.

Woods said: "Robert Murat has been very well known to the media from day one because I have been asking for anyone who was a good Portuguese speaker to come to the scene.

"He had been acting for three or four days as an interpreter and a go-between with the police."

The news came shortly after a statement by the UK ambassador to Portugal.

Nothing will come of it. Very bad feeling that shes just gone and will never be seen again, like a lot of missing children throughout history.

it may just happen to be the only place they cant get to search,.if the water happens to be murky.

I have a feeling the guy is innocent,...... doubt you'll see an apology if he is innocent.

the only people doing the interview........ are sky news channel, interviewing their own reporting team !!
happens to be one of thier journalists who reported him in the first place.

Theres a video clip of someone who knows him in the top right hand corner of this link.

He seems to have known a lot of info before the press because he was interpreting for the police.

They're interviewing someone who once knew him now. She just said: "He looks odd... he has a glass eye".

Looks odd and has a glass eye??? If Murder She Wrote has taught me anything, its that he must have done it!!!

dosent matter if they can or can ,.....they have already,......
sky news reporters using their own sensational testimony to find him guilty on screen.

Maybe the mirror reporter is hoping a lucky guess will get her that 2+ million and a massive exclusive.

I wonder what their headlines will be tomorrow.

often in high profile cases with alot of media attention the guilty person places themselves in a prominent position - eg ian huntley as someone mentioned, wayne o donoghue being in photos of the search for robert holohan, father colomba talking to the press in the case of mary boyle in donegal.....

Who cares what he has to say for himself, hang him now. Stinking paedos, they make me sick. And one with a glass eye, that's just disgusting.

I hear they did it for the lulz.

They can say what they like until he's charged - though if he isn't charged, and especially if someone else is caught bang to rights, he can make his fortune with the libel suit, since he now has no reputation whatever. Even if someone else is caught holding the poor child's dismembered body, there will always be people who say "No, no, it was that guy with the glass eye and the dodgy tinted glasses!"

If he is charged, and is brought to trial, his lawyers would have a good case for saying he couldn't get a fair trial because all possible jurors would have been prejudiced by Sky's coverage, I'd suspect.

The police are now describing him as a "suspect", by the way. It looks black for Madeleine McCann.

I had to switch sky off. I hate the fact they're tearing this guy and his life to shreds without any firm evidence. Surely, its not fair to do this to him if there's any chance he's completely innocent. Mud sticks. Seems to me you're not allowed to be different or helpful these days without being considered a freak. I really hate the way the media are being so intrusive, not even allowing the family to go for a walk without being followed.

But the jury would be composed of Portuguese people and I cant imagine Sky News is all that widely available in Portugal. Though they probably have their own equivalent that is equally as ridiculous.
