    Hey all,

Recently my girlfriend has had an "ill stomach", ie she has had pains in her stomach. In the last 24 hours these pains have moved to her side by her appendix, which is causing her great pain and discomfort. Would I be correct on assuming these are the symptoms of an appendicitis? Im not asking anyone to diagnose if it is or not, alternative suggestions are fine by me - they wont be taken as fact. Im just curious are the symptoms related to appendicitis.

From what I read on researching the apendix has no known use, and is surgicaly removed without any known side-affects. Is this correct to assume?

Shes been to one doctor who couldnt diagnose the problem, and just said it was a "pain" and gave her tablets - which have had no affect, the matter has got worse. So, she is going to a different doctor later today.

It does seem symptoms of appendicitis, correct?

A problem with your appendix would be characterised by a very sharp pain on your right side, down around hip level I think. The appendix is a vestigil organ. It was used for digesting grass and things, but it's no longer needed.

    Afaik.

Your stomach and appendix are on different sides, with your stomach being on your left.

From what I understood from researching, it starts around the bellybutton area and works its way up.

Most reported fever due to hight white blood cells or something, but others said this is not the case.
