It will be released here along with the UK release. I'm buying my copy in Ireland, and not from a Europe or UK based online retailer because I want the distributor to be aware of the market they ignored on cinema release.

The fact that the vast majority have been forced to watch this on a small screen is a disgrace of the highest order. Along with this and the Grindhouse controversy, no doubt remains that Ireland and Europe are simply a turd on the shoe of film distributors.

They had someone else at Empire mag review the DVD version.

He gave it 1 Star :)

I thought it was an awful review. I didn't mind the one star, if the critic didn't like the film that's fair enough. But the review was childish and badly written, it didn't address any of the problems he had with the film and didn't represent the indisputable qualities (music and cinematography) that it had. I went to their website to complain and found a fairly large debate on their web board about that very topic.

I saw it at the Dublin film festival... if you haven't seen it yet you really shouldn't get your hopes up... it's really not all that great and I'm a fan of his previous movies.

To be honest, Empire is one of the worst film magazines out there. I used to read it religiously until I realised it was becoming a schill for the studios. Their reviews are often way off the mark, the amount of advertising in it is becoming ridiculous and the way they drop down and start deepthroating every director who gives them five minutes of attention is pathetic. So, while I have yet to see the Fountain (and yes, it's a disgrace that it wasn't given a wide release), I'd imagine the review is almost completely wrong.

I think it was good that Empire gave the doubters a say, but again the review didn't really prove their point very well. The first review was right on the ball IMO - it really is a fantastic film, but it will really depend on your own taste.

Thought it was a brutal film myself ,like something a 1st year film student would make.
    All style ,no substance,no plot.

Finally got around to seeing this recently.

Great film, and a nice companion piece to the other recent 'sci-fis' Children of Men / Sunshine.

    Awesome soundtrack btw :)
