    this is such a n00b question, but will a sata2 hardrive work with a mobo that has sata ports?....its an asus k8n

    Yes in some instances certain SATA2 hard drives have a jumper on the drive which you must set for SATA1 compatibility but if it's not there then there is nothing to worry about just plug it in.

    cool, thanks 8T8, (need to buy a new hdd for an older pc and the sata is cheaper than the ide) i save €10 now, woohoo!

    just realised that rhymes a bit to much....
