So the Eagle Awards are out...

    Good things :

Declan Shalvey's "Hero Killers" got an award, along with Warren Ellis getting, what, about half the awards going?

    Bad things :

Penny Arcade got the best webcomic award - not saying they don't deserve it, but them winning it is to some extent like Action Comics winning the "best comic" award just because it's the first superhero comic. (Yes, I'm kind of biased since I voted for Adam from Drastic Comics, but still...even the guys in PA have openly stated that they don't always see the point in them being included in "best webcomic" type polls because their fame and standing tends to screw the bellcurve straight awaay...)

Also, Sancho didn't win. Though I think they were competing with Hero Killers so I suppose you can't have it both ways.

    Any thoughts?

The Sancho table had a great sketch up sunday about their non-win at the eagles - I only got back from Bristol in the wee hours of the morning so my brain is a bit fired and i can't remember what is said but they weren't bitter about it all were you lads ;) .........

Nice weekend i have to say in Bristol, great little con, bumped into a ton of people i didn't think would be there and got escorted around by four storm troopers to boot

and i sold a pile of stuff as well..........................but then i spent a small fortune on comics and stuff [got your comic for you fysh] :D

I also think Adam was robbed of his award.

Yeah, I think it was a case of Penny Arcade being so well-established that they got the default vote. A real shame, though on the other hand if it stops Adam (or should that be Declan?) and his truly fantastic hair from getting too bigheaded then it's possibly for the best ;)

"So in desperate need of being cut?"

And yes, I only put the Declan bit in there so you'd know who we were talking about :P

    Confused.
Why do you call Adam Declan?

We had a comic jam up in Dublin in March that we managed to bully Adam into attending. And both ztoical and Tree got confused and christened him Declan, I believe on the basis that he "didn't look like an Adam". He also bit me, although this is generally considered a reasonable reaction to my presence. See here for more info...

ztoical Explains it a lot Better. Now I understand completely. I have a mate Burno who everone calls Bruno. Folks are just strange. Are you the Folks who invaded his home?

Yes, although "invaded" is a harsh term given that he invited us in and practically forced us to watch Transformers dvds with him...
