Was a bit "relaxed" on the way out the door and said thanks for a great night, but also meant to congratulate you on all the wins.

I had the best night out EVER. Never gonna miss another one of these. I'll write up a report on what I can remember from the various fights later.

*note: Memory slightly hazy. I wasn't locked or anything, but I was nicely relaxed. Also, memory just crap in general.....anyway......
Robert Doyle (Bridgestone, Ire.) v Carl Copestake (K-Star, UK)
W.M.T.O. Anglo Irish Title 63.5kg 5x3mins A class Full Thai Rules
Doyle beat Copestake TKO Round 3

Great fight. Close for the first two rounds. Robert was the better fighter but got a cut above his eye in the 2nd round from an elbow in the clinch which might have caused a stoppage. He started dominating in the 3rd round though, looking very settled, and a lovely elbow in the blue corner finished the fight. Really great skill in this one. Robert went for two spinning back elbows and very nearly landed one.

Met Roberts dad at the bar afterwards. Proud as punch. :) (no pun intended)
Darran Dowdall (Bridgestone, Ire.) v Eddie Lopez (Glasgow Thai, Scotland) 57kg 5x2mins B class Rules
Lopez beat Dowdall TKO Round 1

Darran was really unlucky here. The fight was just started and the guy landed an absolute whopper of a right hook (southpaw). Cut Darrans eye and the doctor stopped the fight. He actually looked grand to me after the standing count, but that was that.

I actually thought that it was an elbow because of the damage, but I spoke to Wayne after and he had a much clearer view of it.

I'm sure Darran was totally pissed off, but I think he really was just unlucky here.
Steven Meleady (Bridgestone, Ire.) v Henry Cleminson (K-Star, UK)
    59kg 5x2mins B class rules
    Meleady beat Cleminson Points Win

Steven dominated this one I thought. A clear win for him. Great skill. Really good fight.
Dennis O Brien (Cork Thai, Ire.) v Rafakat Hussain (K-Star, UK)
    69kg 5x2mins B class rules
O' Brien beat Hussain TKO Round 3

Can't really remember this one tbh.
Kelly Simons (Bridgestone, Ire.) v Gemma Green (K-Star, UK)
    69kg 3x2mins C class rules
    Simons beat Green Points Win

Kelly had a big height advantage over Gemma and was much leaner and fitter looking. Kelly was attacking all the way with kicks and punches and Gemma seemed well able to take them. Kellys leg got caught a few times, so she was taken down, but still dominated the first two rounds. I thought the 3rd round was closer, even though Kellys fitness was beginning to show. Good fight. Loads of effort by both.
Jonathon Bracken(Warriors Gym Dublin, Ire.) v Ranbir Singh (Glasgow Thai, Scotland)
    71kg 3x2mins C class rules
Bracken beat Singh TKO Round 3

Can't remember too much about this one. If I could see where it was on the event sheet it might jog my memory. Think this was the one that ended with knees over at the red corner.
Fiachra Eviston (Bridgestone, Dublin) v Michael Kelliher (Cork Thai, Cork)
    59kg 3x2mins C class rules
    Eviston beat Kelliher Points Win

Fiachra outclassed his opponent here. 3 rounds to 0 by my scoring.
Niall Molloy (Bridgestone, Dublin) v Taidgh Lane (Cork Thai, Cork)
    67kg 3x2mins C class rules
    Lane beat Molloy Points Win

Huge height difference here. I was really surprised that they were in the same weight category. Niall wasn't carrying any extra weight. Nialls defence in the clinch was the best I saw all night, but he was on the defensive a bit too often. The reach disadvantage was telling.
Vladislav Virlan (Bridgestone, Dublin) v Ciaran Kelly (Cork Thai, Cork)
    64kg 3x2mins C class rules
    Draw

I thought a draw was the perfect decision here. It really was too close to call. I scored it one round each then couldn't call the last round. Both fighters seemed happy enough with the decision.

Overall a really great night out. Top class fighting. Was surprised at the skill difference between C and B class, but the C class fighters were really going all out for every second of every round. Made for great watching. The main event really was a main event. Well done to all the Irish fighters. They made a great showing.

The more I think back on it, the more I'm convinced that there was a fair weight difference between Niall and Taidg. Paul, can you tell us what the weigh in was like?

Niall's about the same build / height as me (though he's much leaner, I'd say my natural fighting weight is around the 63-64KG mark, that's why I thought he might have been well under the upper weight limit for the fight). From where I was sitting, the Cork lad looked about 3 or maybe even 4 inches taller.

Most welcome. :) Yeah, great night. You'd really be doing well to get that much entertainment for 20 quid elsewhere. Highly recommended.

In case anyone was interested, it turns out that there was only about 1KG in the difference. Taidg was just tall for his weight.

I tell you something though....I'm down about 1KG since that night....and heading south until I'm light enough not to face someone that tall. ;)

Tadhg here who fought niall just to clear up any confusion.... niall weight in at 67.3kg and I weight in at 66.8kg,
overall i thought it was a good show that went along smoothly with no overly long breaks between fights,
Look forward to fighting in dublin again soon......

Congrats on the win Tadhg. PRC made a great showing. ;)

    Welcome to boards also.

If you don't mind me asking, what height are you? I'm AMAZED that you were actually lighter than Niall. Impressive tbh. He wasn't carrying any extra weight from what I could see and you didn't look overly skinny, just lean.

Also...if you don't mind me asking....do you specifically train towards being light? Or are you just naturally that way?

Thanks, i reckon i'd be between 6ft1" 6ft2" not too sure really,
When i train for a fight it is with 67kg weight in mind..... i don't walk around at this weight though when i'm not training for a fight, i make it by just watchin what i eat and running..... yeah i was actually suprised niall weighed in heavier than i did aswell....

Guys you forgot to mention the A class judging on the night!!:)

It was a great night all round well done to all involved..especially Paul for putting on the show, there has been a lot happening with Thai in Ireland lately but I sure all the clubs involved will weather the storm.
