Hi all you teckies out there. Major problem! Last few disks bought I are blue in colour and won't work on our machine. Told by a Tesco manager to-day that they are the latest version and that we will have to replace our PS2.

Is there an upgrade or code I can input that will alllow me to use the blue disks?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Bros.

That sounds weird, never heard of a problem like that.I dont think that there is any such thing as an upgrade code either.

Tesco manager is talking crap. There is no way that you have to upgrade to use those discs. Faulty game. Try getting a replacement.

Same happened to my original PS2, it'd play DVD games but no to the blue ones. Ended up replacing my PS2.

i have one blue/purple game(aoe2, terrible for the ps2) and never had any problems.I think if it doesnt read the disk you should replace your ps2, theres also a way to mod it to change the height of the laser so that blue discs will work, but its complicated:

Good on you Dregon, I knew I wasn't going mad (I think!!!) lol

The latest version of PS2 games , blue discs, do not work in the older consoles. I am definitely going to have a go at Dregon's mod. I'm damned if I'm going to spend money on another PS2 at this stage of proceedings.

    Many thanks,

Thats what i was thinking... I own an xbox myself and afaik there are 2 different colour discs, 1 is to tell you its a cd type and the other is dvd... My xbox (v.old) really struggles to play dvds, maybe thats your problem?
