Beer off-licences in Ireland

I know Redmond's of Ranelagh of old, and have recently been back to confirm that their stock is still excellent.

Jimmy in Redmond's put me on to Dicey's Bottle Store in Ballyshannon, which is considerably more convenient for me than Ranelagh, as I live in North Donegal!

I've found mention of McHugh's in Malahide, which won a special beer award from the National Off-Licence Association, but haven't yet had a chance to visit.

Sainsbury's in Derry (and, I'm sure, in other branches) usually have a good variety - mainly English ales.

I'm sure many of us would find it useful to have a list of good beer off-licences around the country (32 counties), so please help out!

Molloys off-licenses should all have a good selection of imported beers. I know the one in Nutgrove doesn't have the same selection as Redmonds, but it does have loads of the ones you'd want. Think some of the bigger Molloys might have a bigger selection.

Theres also a pretty excellent off-license just down the road from Whelans on Wexford st. ... can't think of the name yet though

The off-licence at the crossroads in Dundrum has a very good selection. Bit far from Donegal still...

O'Brians (the offlicence chain) is decent for special deals. They were doing €7 for 6 Staropramen all week, I got a box of it.

Yeah McHughs in Artane, not malahide but it is on the malahide rd, has an excellent selection of beers from all corners of the world, also do a lot of great special offers. It's a little gem of a place, beer lovers paradise

Sweeney's are excellent, they stock a good selection of imported beers, they used to be up on Dorset Street but are now at Hartscorner.

Or on the Killbarrack Rd, Between them they have managed to get National Beer Specialist for pretty much the last 6 -7 years, The Killbarrack Rd has won Best Off Licence in Ireland for the last 2 years running and the Best in Dublin previous to that. The two shops have large beer fridges dedicated to import and rare beers along side there large 6 door beer fridges.

hey another dongeal guy here .

If ur lookin for booze in leterkenny forget about the off-licence the best place to go is to go to tesco's in the shopping centre they have the biggest selection ya could want .

In strabane beside woolworths (i dont think thats spelled right) there is an offlicence right next to it . Its sipposed to be a really good place to go .

Kieran, the best selection in Letterkenny is actually the Centra up the New Line road, up by the hospital. Tesco's selection is reasonable, but it's pretty much static. Even the Centra's selection isn't great. The best I've found around here is Sainsbury's in Derry.

Must pop into Strabane next time I'm down that way, see about that place. Ta for the tip.

Best I think is Harvest and McCambridges.

Had to bring up this thread again to mention Abbot's Ale House off-licence in Cork.

An amazing offy with the biggest selection of beers and ciders I have ever seen so far. Good prices too.

Don't know exactly where it is as a friend guided me there when we went down for the weekend.

    Check it out! :)
