Warwick Rock bass

I went with a friend to check out some Music shops, I asked the assistant for a Mexican Jazz bass just to try out. I wasn't serious about buying it, but he listened to me play and then recommended a Warwick rock bass saying it would suit my playing style better and was 100euros cheaper.

I was horribly impressed, the sound, the feel, everything was fantastic on it. I wasn't intending to get a new bass but this one just wows me.

I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with Warwick rock basses and what they think of them.

Shallow beast I am, I dislike the sunburst finish. Is it possible to get a basses finish redone?
    Thanks
    CIan

I've had one for about 4 years... the 4 string Corvette Special Edition.

It's pretty much the same as the active Corvette but it has a flamed maple top. Best looking of all the Rockbasses imo.

Very nice basses for the money, you can get a brand new active 4 string Corvette from Germany for under €500. I had mine bought for me by somebody in America. I've had a problem with fret buzz since I got it but never bothered doing anything about it, will get that sorted soon.

This is what I have, and at this price it's insanely cheap. About €475 delivered.

I got mine in America for about $600, but the dollar and euro were worth roughly the same at the time. This bass sells for over €600 from thomann etc. I asked Musicmaker what the list price would be on this bass after I bought it and they told me €1179

I've just upgraded to a proper Warwick but I'm hanging onto my Rockbass as I'm quite fond of it. Once I get some repairs done on it then it'll be in fine shape.

    So you'd reccomend it then?
I absolutely loved the tone and feel.
    I just wanted some feedback.

Yeah I'd definitely recommend it, especially for €475. I've bought off soundslive before and have never had a problem, delivery is very fast.

The first bass I had was a Tanglewood Corvette copy, second bass I got was the Rockbass Corvette, and I'm just after buying a Corvette Proline. The only other basses I've ever had decent experience of are Fender's. I was using a Mexican p-bass for a while. Just don't like the feel of those basses, the necks are too thick for my liking.

Is the rockbass the standard or cheaper edition from Warwick? The nicest bass I've ever played was a lovely blue Warwick bass, but I've no idea what type it is... actually, it belongs to "John" on boards... must give him a shout and inquire now that I'm an active bass player. :P

Rockbass is the budget line, comparable to Mexican Fenders.

They use alot of the same material as the proper Warwicks. Same pickups anyway.

The main difference really is that the Rockbass line is made in China and the proper Warwicks are made in Germany.

A friend of mine has one, and ive always thought it was great. Plays good, sounds fantastic and feels great too. Nice steely metallic strings suit it best i think.

His is a Streamer Standard, same as mine, as far as I can recall.

Haha, my bass is famous. Yeah, mine's the Streamer Standard, not a Rock Bass but it was substantially cheaper than most of the "regular" Warwicks. I loves mine, I actually write most of my guitar lines for my band on that bass which is perverse because I've a very sexy guitar.
