Hi, my dad brought home some compaq ( pent4, datapac in wexford build?) home from work the other to give to a friend of his it would only be for email and internet. well since it came from workplace its got windows NT 4.0 on it and i can't log onto it cos im not connected to the network. i have an XP install disc and it does have a XP home edition product key stuck on the top of it and a designed for XP tag. thing is do i have to go into my dad work ,hook it up to the network, log in and then install XP onto it or can i just stick the disc in and auto run presto it should work. (atm can't find my xp disc but i read somewhere of niteos for downlaoding xp bootable discs, will find that article again to be sure)

any/all tips would be helpful thanks

just stick in the disk reboot and install away. you'll be a while downloading an OS disk.
