My trusty g3 powerbook seems finally to have given up the ghost...won't turn on, nothing happening. Everything backed up so no panic but just wondering if anyone knows any secrets for reviving a dead laptop or any recommendations for where i could go to see if there's any chance of resurrection?

Which model? I could lend you an AC power supply to rule that out. Mine was a Lombard but I think it had the same PSU as some later models. Are you getting power into it? Where are you?

the simplest thing you can try, assuming your PSU works fine is strip and reseat all the parts, including the CPU module. Over time with use and thermal expansion some parts become unseated and can lead to a no-boot.

You'd be surprised how often this is the problem with G3 powerbooks. Failing that, it could be a failing PMU, cheap enough to replace on ebay.

    Thanks for the replies,

Yeah it's a lombard 333Mhz (bronze keyboard). Don't think it's the power supply as surely it would start up with battery (i have two). It had been a while since i'd used the laptop though so is it possible the batteries ran down themselves??No power getting into it anyway. I'm in Dublin (City Centre)

Will try reseating the parts, if no joy might arrange to borrow that PSU, cheers

    I don't suppose you'd have display hinges for a Powerbook Titanium . . . . ?
