Leather seats or cloth seats?

I'm getting a new car from the UK (E46 3 series) soon but I am unsure whether to go for leather seats or not. I think they look the business and make the car really show it's class but I know black leather gets really hot in summer and is freezing in winter!

Are they worth it, considering that? Is the hot/cold issue really that much of an issue? If you had a choice which would you choose?

Leather all the way. You may as well get the heated seats if the cold bothers you. The extras will be very good value in the UK compared to here

Sometimes leather can stick to your skin and a little painful pulling off it, especially in hot weather. Not nice for the ladies in a skirt or men in shorts:)

Well when I said new I meant second hand (about 00 reg), and with my budget I haven't come across many with heated seats, so I'll probably have to get one without them.

Leather FTW! So easy to maintain and a lot more comfortable, imo.

Yes leather seats can be a pain in the summer time but most cars come with the option of heated seats for the cold winter days. Leather seats are also handy if you have young kids as any mess is quite easy to clean up from the them. A BMW with leather seats will be more desirable too when it comes to selling the car on after you are done with it.

On a side note I have seen many BMWs with only half leather seat trim which might be a good compromise.

Leather will be a real plus when the time comes to sell it.

Go for the leather, if you find you made the wrong decision get a set of cloth covers;)
