Does anyone know how to go about obtaining single vehicle type approval here? Seems very straightforward in the UK but I cant find any information on it here, and the law is a nightmare.

I'm not sure if you have to get that approval here, after a quick search it would appear that all you need to do is contact the revenue to have the vehicle individually assessed for VRT. Once this is paid, they'll issue you with a registration number.

Apparently. I'd contact revenue to see what the story is. Apparently they're usually very helpful.

Think you need a cert/letter from a garage to say its roadworthy too

I'm presuming the OP can't do that if she needs SVTA. I'm not at all surprised to hear we don't do it like the UK where they actually check to see your home made bed car, sofa car etc. is actually safe for road use.

Im in the trade, and talking about a new vehicle (unregged anywhere and less than 3000 miles) so not quite so simple. I was hoping someone here could advise on what the procedure is re TA numbers and testing. The only word I have so far is bring it to a testing centre in NI. As usual we piggyback on the british system when were not organised here.
