replacing 300w psu with 250w

    just burnt out a 300w psu.i have a 250w spare to replace it
    .is it ok to do this.it is only powering mobo,cd,floppy,hd,windows 98 fairly old comp.

    Yes. Especially if its an old Win98 based machine, a 100w psu would probably be enough, let alone a 250. That is assuming of course, that the hardware matches the OS. Although even at that, a 250w is enough to run even the most modern of hardware as long as its basic stuff like you've required and not graphics cards, multiple drives and optical drives, etc.
