Right, so I received my 3rd iPod on Sunday afternoon. The 1st was stolen and luckily was insured. Its replacement (2GB black nano) worked fine for 9 months, then the screen burned out from the inside. I got its replacement Sunday. The ****ing piece of crap screen has now completely frozen with the light on. I brought it to my local Argos (it was bought in a diff one) and the girl told me that this type of thing just happens, iPods sometimes freeze and that I should just let the battery run down and it should be fine. Eh, no thanks. People wouldnt tolerate a brand new tv which, 3 days after purchase, conked out for 12 plus hours and said see you later. Needless to say Im not hanging on to this rubbish and Ill have to make a very long bus trip out to where it was bought by the oul lad for replacement, wasting more of my time. Im actually lucky I still have it in reasonable condition for return, seeing as I had to prevent myself smashing it off a wall after it went bollixed. Thing is, after two in a row going tits up, would you go for third time lucky, or just say feck it, get your cash back and buy something else?

My GF is on her 4th nano... the thing is the replacements are refurbs, its been the same with the xbox 360's. I think one of the lads on that forum gave up after his 11th replacement went bust...

You can hardly blame anybody (yourself perhaps?!?) for the first one.

Maybe the girl is right, give it a shot, let the battery run down and start again, if it works it works, if it doesn't then bring it back.

I've that happen before and it can usually be solved by resetting the iPod. It's fairly easy to do, of course if freezing becomes a regular occurrence then be sure to take it back.

    To reset your iPod nano:

    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Let us know how you get on!

As above, it most likely just needs a reset, just takes about ten seconds to do - they freeze sometimes if disconnected too quickly when syncing. See Jaon's post above. A reset fixes almost all iPod issues.
