    villain's playing 60/7/1 over 50 hands...

    GAME #547042902: Texas Hold'em NL $2.00/$4.00 2007-05-09 06:03:58
    Table "TURBO" Cerdido

Seat 8: jeanleonard ($173.20 in chips)
Seat 10: valdet ($921.41 in chips)
    dupasgon: Post SB $2.00
    Afterburn: Post BB $4.00
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to HERO [DK HQ]
    jeanleonard: Fold
    valdet: Call $4.00
    HERO: Raise $20.00
    dupasgon: Fold
    Afterburn: Fold
    valdet: Call $16.00
    *** FLOP *** [C4 SK D2]
    valdet: Check
    HERO: Bet $40.00
    valdet: Call $40.00
    *** TURN *** [HJ]
    valdet: Bet $32.00
    HERO: ???

    call or raise?

normally for me this is a standard raise, but with villain having such a low aggression factor, (1), and the turn completing the rainbow, is calling and reevaluating on the turn a better option?

Raising against almost anyone would be bad IMO. There is literally no reason to raise here at all, unless you think he is definitely stacking off with worse kings or second pair.

Id raise him on the flop if this happened. On the turn id be happy just to call to the river

Nick are you now fully bankrolled for 2/4 again? If so well fair play yo you, this is from 200$ after you went to the wall yeah? Seriously well done. Im delighted that you swung it around so quick.

As HJ said - raising here is bad. You are expecting him to call with K 10 or worse, your hand has showdown value and you should get there cheaply in this spot.

you should pretty much never raise here

as already stated, this is a really clear cut call vs almost everyone

would this not be a good spot for a min-raise?

minraising with mediocre hands in position is a concept used in limit moreso than nl, but it allows me to control the betting and more often than not, villain will call and check the river which is probably the cheapest way of getting to showdown here.. it also protects my hand and gets value from the k..

    thoughts on this??

    anyway, i called..

I'd fold now against someone with that low an aggresion factor

yeah, this is a pretty easy fold now.. folding must be the correct play here without a decent read..
he's either has an absolute monster or he's bluffing and i'd say it's 90/10..

i'd like to get some thoughts on minraising the turn though? can't help but feel i played it wrong..

Nick are you now fully bankrolled for 2/4 again? If so well fair play yo you, this is from 200$ after you went to the wall yeah? Seriously well done. Im delighted that you swung it around so quick.

    cheers for the support bcb..
not quite rolled for 2/4 yet.. back up to 5k though and am fully rolled for 1/2 where i'm getting very comfortable.. i like to take shots at 2/4 when a decent game opens up though..

took about 50k hands in total.. t'was quite enjoyable fighting back to where i am now.. very rewarding, humbling experience..
here's hoping the next 50k go even better..

In this hand, had you min raised you may of gotten to a showdown, almost definitely lost and cost yourself $32

Something definitely stinks here, he limpd in from MP pre-flop and then called raise OOP, considering his low agression stats a small pair seems a strong possibility.I would prob put him on a set of 4s or 2s.The rainbow, non-straightening flop would not scare him, he can't put you on a monster from a button raise so it seems like a good situation to check-call the flop.Leading out on the turn would also tally with a set, the J puts a straight draw out there and he wants to build a pot.I could be reading the whole thing wrong put I would err on the side of caution, throw it away and wait for another spot.

I post so slow, that replies are made while I'm still hacking away at the keyboard!

This is definitely not a spot for minraising. River is an easy fold.

    call turn, fold river

    yeah, your right..
anyway, as the title suggests, it's a very standard hand and i played it that way... i was just wondering about other ways to play it and perhaps win it as these type of hands occur regularly.. probably wouldn't be profitable going after them though..
