First change your import preferences in iTunes from the preset (AAC) to MP3. Then highlight all your songs by clicking on one and holding CTRL + A . Right-click and look for an option to convert to MP3 in the drop down menu. You will see an option with an orange icon in the source list which details all the songs being converted. It may take sometime, HOWEVER you will lose some quality as MP3 and AAC use different compression techniques which strip different signals from the original source (CD). :D

    Hey,

Sorry to go a weeee bit off topic,but.......Just got a new mac and have to use itunes to listen to my music. At the moment i have to copy all my music onto the harddrive to listen to it.As i don't want my HD full of MP3s,is there a way of just opening my MP3s thru itunes from an external HD?

    Thanks

Yep. Just in the preferences, go to 'Advanced'. Under 'General', choose the location you wish to save your files and that's it!

You won't be able to play WMA on iPod. You'll have to convert it. WMA is Ms format and they own Zune so they don't want WMA songs to play on iPod.

There are better players out there than iPod's now anyway. Shop around and read reviews. There are plenty of players that play all the formats you want, that are quality players now.
