    Dear All,

I've had a problem with Meteor Mobile now for a long time, namely their web SMS service. After much complaining that got nowhere I put up a web page.

    <snip>

Now I've been contacted by Meteor and threatened with legal action unless I take down the page but no solution to my problem.

Any thoughts? Anyone want to email info@meteor.ie and complain?

Support needed. Will work for food!

If I were you, I'd take down the page. Registered trademarks and all that.

I sympathise with your difficulties, but I don't see what you expect boards.ie to do about it.

    IANAL

Instead of spending time and money on a website giving out about web texts couldnt you have just bought credit and sent messages in the normal way?

I dont think webtexts are a huge factor in the quality of a phone company so I find this a bit over the top. Web texts are a suplimentary service provided by Meteor and the odd time I do use them I find the service is quite satisfactory.

If you hate meteor so much why don't you change? I'm sure they wouldnt mind!

I've never had trouble, but I bypass their site with a program that logs in and texts for me, so I don't have to use their site.
You get free texts and free calls from them, use them. :)

Yous hould save yourself the bother and take down the site.

In fairness meteor are a big joke, cheap enough if all your friends are on the network, but still a joke.
When i swapped over from O2 when the free texts thing first came out they managed to screw up taking down my old number(which by the way the operator read back to me after taking it down and it was fine) and instead changed over somebody else's number(which was like mine but with a different last digit) and gave it to me so for the half a week it took them to change it back I was getting a load of texts and calls that were another persons, as well as the odd person ringing me wondering what I was doing with their friends phone. Idiots

You don't like a company so you start libelling them? That's not a very bright thing to do. Neither is advertising the site that infringes on their copyrights and hurts their reputation.

What you should do if you no longer like the company so much
    1:Take down the site
2: Take your meteor sim card out of your phone
3: Throw sim card in a lake

I on the other hand plan to stick with my meteor free texts on my phone and my meteor free texts on the net.

Fight teh powah! Raise awarness, keep the website up and put pictures of their ceo's heads on other peoples bodies. That should teach them not to mess with you.

thats very clever....not. have you thought about what might happen. is your phone still working? i'd be surprised if its working for much longer.

go to another operator if you're not happy with them.

They're retarded. I sent two letters and a fax and they STILL never cancelled my contract. Apparently there are debt collectors letters in Ireland waiting for me. IDIOTS!

I know of 2 pieces of software that you can use to send your meteor free texts from your desktop.

    They're in sombodys sig here.

Edit: To jump on the bitch and moan bandwagon, their reception is really crappy sometimes. Like, you'd have full reception and still you can't make a call.

How did big bad meteor find out about the website?

Number 4 says "life is too short"

You dont have enough time to delete and reenter a number but you have time to make that website.
Its people like you that make me glad we dont have gun laws like america's.

    7. If I can't set up a group I can't send a "Group Web Text". A Group Web Text as presented on the website clearly means 1 text to a group. After which I should be able to send another 299 messages (single or group ones) that month. Now Meteor are saying that each member of the group counts as one text.

My understanding of group text is its just an easy way to send the same message several times, not that you only get charged once.. not that youre even being charged on webtext anyway... so im not quite sure why youre so upset about it all..

Aside from your complaints being very petty for what is a free service, any chance of making a ligitimate point ended when you just ripped off their site.

There are companies that charge a significant amount for functionality you describe. You havn't a hope.

I phoned 1905 and explained what I wanted to do. I even gave them the necessary information to pass on to their IT department in case they didn't know how to do this. Since then: nothing.

Nothing people like better than a know-it-all.

And as others have said, ripping off their site was hardly a good idea...and as for whinging about something that is free. Also, before you make a big desicion next time, like changing mobie network....research it first.

Your problems really aren't much in the grand scale of things. More like improvements you'd like to see than anything else.
