Without starting another CPT bashing thread, I would like to vent my anger towards those "CPT haters" who constantly give out about them but still flog to their tourneys regardless.

I presume every other tourney organisation in the country has the same problem as we have. We have to schedule our tourneys around CPT's. Fair enough...they have without doubt the biggest following, prize pools etc..

But what I can't understand is why people talk their game down so much then turn around and play in them. This happens every single time with a few of our regulars. They know its a bad game, so I just presume that its the guarantee prize pool that attracts them.

Poker players like big prize money but I think that they would settle for a little less if they could rely on their "skill" to get through a big field rather than a crap shoot where the chip leader has 15 BB's when there's 20 runners left.

Like other smaller tourney organisers around the country, we've tried to provide good solid value for money tourney's with a very slow structure and a slow clock. But trying to get past the 40+ mark regarding players consistently is like trying to climb mount everest in a wheelchair. Maybe I'm just jealous of CPT, I don't know

For me it's a toss up between A) the standard of tourney vs B) the standard of players (that's all v polite!)

generally i can't stomach A) enough for B) to be viable - both are i suppose equally and cringe worthy

I'd like to hear good/bad trip reports from anyone (who is brave enough to admit) who went to the 50k yoke in thurles last weekend

Perhaps you should change your name to CSOP or ISOP.

What exactly is the purpose of this thread?? I don't really see it, we've had plenty of CPT bashing threads.... I don't think we need another, I'll give it a couple of hours to see if anything develops, but I'll probably lock it later.

A few Gorey players went down to Tipperary for the "50k" tournament on Sunday, it was held in a closed down run down hotel opened for one day only, most certainly 0 cost on venue, Prizepool was 50k but 20k odd of that was a donated car, 250 runners at 220 entry and a 100euro rebuy, minimum of 65k taken in, really hope the football club got the other 35k but doubt it somehow.

Anyway a lot people unhappy about the state of it wont be back. Im sure its the stated prizepool that keeps people coming btw, I mentioned the red cow to a lot of people and their immediate reply was - whats the prizepool?

While it is probably a bad idea to allow repetitive threads on the CPT I think we need some kind of fixed list of the organisers players here hold in high regard and those they don't. I like the idea of there being a constant reminder that CPT are a bunch of robbing gits who deserve no support.
Until of course the day they decide to change things long after my demise no doubt.

Well as a mark of respect for Muso's last mod wishes, I will leave this thread open.... :p And leave the List of reputable organisers to someone with more knowledge on the subject as I play very little Live and certainly none outside the "Casino's"

EDIT: But won't allow pimping by organisers...

I know some lads from Tralee that went up there.Only report I got back was that CPT told them they wouldnt be returning to Kerry for any more events as they are'nt getting a big enough crowd.

<SNIPPED> This is running a little close to the sun for me, if you have first hand knowledge of this and can stand over it yourself, feel free to post about it, but this kind of hearsay can't be allowed.
