The UFC website is reporting that Martin Kampmann has pulled out of his fight with Rich Franklin due to a knee injury.

Rumours are doing the rounds now that he might be replaced by Okami, no confirmed replacement from the UFC though.

Okami replacing him would be the bomb, I think he and Rich are probably the top contenders (after Marquardt)

Yeah, I don't know how much truth there is in the Okami rumour, could be just the usual sherdog chinese whispers.

At least there's still a month to go for someone to prepare, the event needs a quality replacement.

This is a piss-poor lineup as it is, but it's better than nothing. Okami is an interesting matchup however.

I think okami franklin would be a great fight, but didn't he only fight a short while back? I won't really miss the Franklin-Kampmann main event, it doesn't deserve main event status anyway. I think Dana is saving all the brilliant match-ups for that beauty of a card, UFC 73!

Dead right. An absolutely ****e line-up. Some really boring fighters in there.

i think there really letting the irish fans down with this line up, it would not be tolerated in the states, ring of truth will probably be better..

It seems like it may have back-fired already. Spike have apparently decided not to shell out for the coverage on this one. I can't see it doing very well on tape delay pay-per-view in the States.

Dana said they made a loss after 70 due to all the marketing, looks like they're gonna lose out again.

Listed on ufc.com as PPV Live event -> Linky

Of course they will make some back on the stupid prices I paid for 3 tickets:o

I wouldn't mind if they just abandoned their European takeover and I could go back to watching my 24hour delay event on Bravo, ah the good ol' days!:p

"piss poor" is rarely better than nothing.

Well they're probably being cagey about it. Ha ha, cagey... oh okay never mind... Anyway they might not have been 100% sure of a sell out so they didn't book the bigger names. Mind you, Franklin is a good headliner IMO, if only they could have dished out one more top name it would make this really worth going to. I'll probably be going anyway, but to be honest, the Cage Rage card offers far greater value for money to me given that not only do I get to see international bouts but also ones of domestic interest.

jesus......just went to check out the prices for tickets for ufc72.I still laughing.
Is Dana White aware of the similarity between his surname and the Irish way of saying ****e?

Only started to notice the ads for this in the last week or so, once Kampmann had already ruled himself out. Shame for them I suppose.
I like Rich Franklin, Jason MacDonald, Forrest Griffin, Yushin Okami so I'm looking forward to this.
Just because there's no huge match ups at this doesn't mean the fights won't be good, but like people have been saying you can get that with Cage Rage for way less money.

All 9 fights have been announced, it's the worst UFC card ever by a mile I reckon.

The final card doesn't seem to impressive. They obviously want to the keep the big fights for Las Vegas.
However im really looking forward to the frank vs okami fight aswell as seeing forrest griffin's

I have to laugh as well ... it seems there doing there bit to make it a proper "irish" event on the bill with Tom Murphy Vs. Jake O'Brien. Neither hail from Ireland at all.

It's better than waiting weeks for tape traders :) It's not the greatest card, but it is a UFC event in Ireland and that is better than nothing.

But his nickname is "Irish", thatll do for them!! Its a pity they couldnt get even one more fight on the card with a big name, looks more like a UFN than a UFC. Oh well im not complaining though, Franklin - Okami will be great and Griffin vs Hector should be an exciting slugfest. Plus if Tyson griffin produces another fight like his last one that will be worth the money alone.

The chuteboxe USA website. Just posted an interesting story:
    ChuteBoxe wrote:
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has signed a contract with the UFC and may participate in UFC 72.

Although the chuteboxe website also posted some unreliable stories before so take it with a grain of salt. Shogun would definitely make me feel better about paying the ticket price.
