Hi, has anyone here worked in a newspaper in the US? I'm thinking of moving out there, just want to know if it would be easy to get a job in newspapers/magazines. Has anyone here done this or know anyone that has?

I live in the US. I have a good friend that works in a major newspaper in my city. They are laying off workers. Subscriptions are down and they can't seem to put together a successful website that is revenue producing.

This is not unusual in the US; in many markets, less people are buying papers. TV and the internet is where folks get their news.

My friend is thinking of going back to Uni to get a different degree. He believes the writing is on the wall, so to speak. His wife is also in the same boat; she works with the newspaper and is now contemplating changing jobs.
