Is my friend gay?

This is not quite a personal issue but I'm looking to see if other people have friends who act like my friend. If he actually is gay (unlikely) it wouldn't be an issue, its his own business.

My friend Mark does fairly well with the ladies in a scoring sense. However in nearly 7 years knowing him, to my knowledge he has never had a girlfriend. He is your typical hump them and move on guy. This is normal for a young guy. He's 24.

However, I have other friends who are also good women wise and each to a man has had some type of gf in that time period. I mean theres not wanting to settle down and theres complete lack of any commitment whatsoever! The closest he's come to that is having a **** buddy for 4 weeks.

The part that makes me wonder if it is all just an act is that Mark has absolutely no standards looks wise! He doesn't need to be hammered either for standards to head south. Recently on a holiday, he scored a decent looking girl in a club. 10 minutes later I see him scoring this girl who in all honesty was fat enough to appear on a Jerry Springer special (no joke, she looked about 250 pounds)

Lately, he keeps asking me if I've had intercourse of the ahem backdoor variety with my gf. The first time he said it, it might JUST have fitted under slagging. Now though, my friends and I are getting a little creeped out by it.

I know for some guys its all about the chase. He's told me before that he has no interest after the deed is done. The fact that he hasn't gone out with any girl he's slept with (about 30) is odd to me. Lately I've been thinking he's doing it just to maintain a certain image hence the title. Anyone have any friends like Mark?

He has probably either just discovered it, or has built up a fantasy of taking a woman that way. I had a similar friend who used to always bring up sexual stuff in conversation that people generally didn't want to talk about. He also had a few things he obsessed about, but as far as I know he isn't gay

Firstly I am not gay. It would come as a shock to my girlfriend.

Secondly, as I stated before, if he is gay its none of my business. I don't see the harm in discussing it on an annoymous web board.

He has shagged lots of women, fair play to him. I'll admit, I'm not as good as him in picking up women. However in 7 years, he hasn't met up with any one of those girls more than 4 times.

Maybe I need to get out more but I've never met anyone keep up the single life for so long without any breaks. I don't know for sure but I'd say he's never been anyway involved with a girl his entire life.

edit: regards the anal sex issue. Being interested in it is one thing. Having a fixation on it and being the only person who brings it up is quite another.

Just because he's shagged a few women doesnt mean too much. He probably just hasn't met the right one. Maybe the right ones for him have bigger hands. Suggest a holiday to Bangkok to him and see what he says. If he thinks it's a fab idea, then don't be dropping the soap around him.

I've never seen a guy have so little time for the companionship aspect of being with a woman. (That sounds like mushy crap ) I know plenty of guys who act macho but every so often they all end up with some girl they score on and off (some form of committment)

Tbh, while it IS possible, nothing you have said is evidence for it, or makes me think it particularly likely. I have known guys who actively avoided "entanglements" as they would have described it for years ... most eventually met someone that took them by surprise, and suddenly everything was very different.

I have a mate who's quite similar. He's fond of stating how he's passed the 30 mark etc., but his longest relationship was a number of weeks. He gives numerous issues for not wanting to go out with a girl, generally they'll be similar to 'did you see her nails?' 'she had horrible feet', 'look at her shoes'.

It's often crossed my mind that he's actually gay and desperately fighting it. Yes, something along the lines of the already mentioned favorite topic of the pop psychologist; overcompensation, but also due to the reasons he cites. He seems to be looking for some sort of mythical feminine ideal, which as we all know doesn't really exist outside of photoshop, and using the fact that no girl he meets can compare to the ideal to avoid emotional intimacy with them.

Admittedly, it's a half-baked theory, but if it's wrong i'm still convinced there's something rotten in the state of Denmark.
