Hi, I have a Nikon D50 and kit lens 18-55. Looking to buy some new equipment for it , specifically a bigger zoom lens, maybe the 70-300 VR , or the 18-200VR, and a flash unit, sb 600 or 800. Looks like I might be headed to Hong Kong for a weeks hols in June, I've never been, is it worth waiting and buying over there, are there much savings to be had ? Any recommendations for camera shops ? thanks !

There are two camera shop areas - around Mong Kok (on the Kowloon side) and also Stanley Strret near the bottom of Hollywood road on the Island.

For consumer cameras the electronic shops such as Fortress (like Comet) do a decent range. For Nikon pro cameras I'd recommend "Mirama Camera and Hi-Fi Co, 25 Stanley Street".

Savings in Hong Kong are huge because there is no sales tax and you are nearer to the manufacturing base. I picked up an EOS 5D for just under 1700 euro with an 8Gb card for another 90.
