Does anybody know what the problem is with importing this stuff direct from USA?
Frosts aren't cheap, and the postage is expensive too.
It would be easier if I could import more than I need and sell the excess to cover some costs.....

I got some from frosts for a 1937 stationary engine i have for the tank.

I phoned frosts and they were looking for silly money to post to ireland, so i got it posted to my auntie who lives in glouchester for a fiver ,and another fiver to ireland .

    Grand Job :)

Its brilliant stuff , I done 2 resonable sized tanks (Stationary engine tanks ) and still had half a can left from 8oz.

You know the deal about it going off the minute the lid comes off so do as many tanks as you can at the one time to get value for your money ;)

Bloody frosts. I ended up paying 108 euro for 2 tins of clear por 15 and a bottle of metal ready. WTF.
Theres probably a niche market there for being the irish distributor.

I am after buying lots of that metal ready from frosts and the delivery company have been nothing but hassel. I now have to go to them to pick it up or they will send it back to the uk because they couldn't find my address and couldn't get me on the phone....I am not a happy camper...
Justin if you bring it in, it will be bought :) but don't use there shipper:mad:

Agree with the above, bought loads of POR & Metal ready recently and was mugged by the shipping charges.. No problems with delivery though.

Would definitely be interested in buying from an Irish supplier or getting in on a bulk buy - my Alfa's go thru more POR then petrol :D

Best I fill my boot with the stuff before coming over in mid-June! :D

There is a problem with shipping hazardous/flammable materials but it's definitely not impossible, I can't believe there isn't an Irish dealer for this.

None AFAIK for Plusgas either and that stuff is amazing :D

Oh and Frosts; Free UK delivery for orders over £60 and NI delivery over £80

I thought radionics did plusgas? If anyone knows anywhere else it can be obtained, please post it up. ( no, halfords don't stock it )

Thank you, thank you, thank you - I've been through the Radionics catalogue many times for work but I've never seen Plusgas listed, until now that is (online catalogue)

I buy mine on ebay from a guy in Scotland ;)

Yep, can confirm Radionics sell Plusgas

Can't see what the big deal is - tastes exactly like WD-40 when ingested accidentally while pasting cat-bolts under the car

Excuse my ignorance - what's plusgas ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,487 ✭✭✭franksm

It's just liquid that does much the same job as WD-40 (or diesel fuel for that matter) - loosens rust, unseizes bolts and so on.

Far more effective than WD40 too, essential when working on a classic car ;)

Two other distributors of POR stuff, Holden would seem to be cheaper in shipping for large orders.

WD40 is merely a Water Displacer (hence the WD) it is not a penetrating fluid or a long term lubricant at all.

Diesel would be better but it does not have the creeping agent that PlusGas has. PlusGas is on the approved list for use in the Aircraft business.

I always have a can of it and it never fails !

I presume the POR15 is considered a hazzardous material hence expensive to ship. Is there a place in the North that stocks it, or if you knew someone who had an address in the North it may workouty cheaper. this sounds ridiculous I know but I have done that regularlyn with other freight and by using the BT post code it is considered to be the same Country, despite the different land mass.

    Just a thought !
