iPod Dead?

    Hi,

I have a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (at least, I beleive it's 4th gen - the last ones before Video iPod).

I left it on yesterday and today it's dead.

I can't recharge - either with dc adapter or connected to PC (PC doesn;t see it at all).

Has anyone experienced similar? Any advice on how to get it going again?

    thanks,

    Al

get a new battery from ebay, I'd say thats what failed. You'll need to crack the ipod open to put the new battery in though.

That's a bit extreme, it might just need to be reset.

Leave it plugged into the charger for a few hours even if it doesn't seem to be doing anything, then try reset it while it is still plugged into the DC recharger.

Slide the hold button into the "on" position then off again. Then the next step can vary slightly with different iPods but for yours I think it is to hold the "menu" button and the centre button, the "select". You hold these two on together for about six seconds and then you should see some action again from the iPod.
