I visited Glenveagh castle in the beautiful county of Donegal a few weekends back. The weather was a bit patchy but here's 3 that made the cut:

    Barn Owl
    Glenveagh Castle
    The Gardeners Cottage

barn owls are pretty rare...and shy at that...how did you manage to get the shot (was it with the 70-300...i just bough a similar lens and really looking forward to giving it bash)? were you waiting ages & did you have a hideout?

God no, I wouldn't have the patience nor the time to sit in a hideout or anything like that. It was on the glove of a member of staff of the castle, looking very sleepy due to it being the middle of the day :) and yes it was taken at 300mm.

Number 1: Personally I think this is very bland because the range of colours is
very bad and derefore there is no mmmmm interesting areas? (is that the word)

Number 2: Lovly picture all in all

Number 3: I think it would be better if when taken, the gate was off centre!

    I love the first one.

My eyes are drawn to his eye brow and the gorgeous markings on his feathers. Truly beautiful bird. Nice shot.
