Took a few shots of a friend and her son, real cute kid. Went to the playground and tried a few different shots. C&C welcome

I like the first for its movement, and the last two for the expressions on their faces :) The third is lovely too.. The first one makes me feel dizzy! Nice capture.

The one thing I would say - the second one - I would have tried to frame it so that building and lamp weren't in the background. Its a small thing though.

Thanks sineadw, always trying to think of clean background when I did it. I was on the roundabout for the two shots going green! :)

Focus is way soft in #'s 2, 3 and 4. I know you practically have to sedate a child in a playground to get them to hold still, but it's a bit dissapointing when the panning shots are actually so sharp. :]

Still, I like the composition in them all.

I used one shot for all these pictures, maybe I will use Servo in future and just change the focus point when needed. I only had my 350D with a Sigma 18-50 f2.8 (no HSM on this one and I think the focussing is the main thing that lets it down) . Thanks Fenster I rekon it will be replaced with something else by August. Good practice taking kids pictures though. I must try my 85mm f1.8 next time. Thanks to everyone for the comments :)

Just from my own experiences, you can get more from a wide-angle close up than from a portrait lens from a distance.
