Advice Please! Sony Cyber Shots

    Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I am looking to upgrade from my old Nikon Coolpix Compact (now held together with tape!) to a bridge.

I have read nothing but glowing reports of the Sony DSC-H5, so I am very tempted. My only worry is that it has been out nearly a year now (I could be wrong) so I am conscious of buying a camera that is already out a year!

So I was thinking of either the newer H7 or H9, which are obviously more expensive (I am trying to stay within a budget) but as they are relatively new I haven't been able to read many reviews.

    So any advice?!

My gut feeling is to just go for the H5 because it has been so highly recommended, and at the extreme risk of sounding girly here, it's much more attractive than the H7 or H9!

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Comparison Chart

    DSC-H5 -- 3072 x 2304 -- 12x Optical Zoom -- IS -- AA -- 3.0" LCD
    DSC-H7 -- 3264 x 2448 -- 15x Optical Zoom -- IS -- Li-ion -- 2.5" LCD
    DSC-H9 -- 3264 x 2448 -- 15x Optical Zoom -- IS -- Li-ion -- 3.0" LCD

On the face of it the H9 seems to be better in terms of:
    a/ Bigger Zoom
b/ Rechargable Li-ion Battery (AA's drain very quickly) and Sony uses Info Lithium which tells you how much time left on the battery
    c/ 3in LCD
    d/ More Megapixels.

Without seeing any reviews I can't say much more but I've never had a bad Sony (4 in all),

    Dave

btw This is a link to a site that has some shots taken with a H9, they seem fine to me http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_sony_cybershot_dsc_h9_3.php

Thanks a million. Actually ended up ordering the H7 in the end. Reckoned that I would probably end up breaking the flip screen on the H9, and night-vision is a bit gimmicky for me. So the DSC-H7 it is.

Can't wait for it to arrive now!

Just seen this thread now.. Have had the Sony H2 for about 9 months now and its great. Nice features and compact but still produces great shots.. Using it until feel confident to upgrade to Nikon D70 or D80..
