    hey everyone,

freaking out here. I was playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on my pc last night and the game was crawling at like 1fps so i opened up the case and saw that the cpu fan and gfx fan had a lot of dust and crap on them.

so i removed the fans cleaned them and put them back on. I powered on the pc to make sure all was well and it go to windows so i powered it off, put the side panel back on and powered it on again. and i got the screen that you can see in the attached image. Its complete jargon, you can see that the machine is Posting behind and loading windows but its covered in all of this junk.

i thought that it must have been the gfx card (AGP Geforce 7800GS+ 512mb) so i took the cooler off again and made sure it was ok. same thing happened. all the fans are spinning fine there are no strange noises or beeps, pc seems to be Posting fine and loading but i can't make out anything on the screen. I haven't had a chance to check the card in any other PC yet but i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

the card in only about 6 months old. im running a p4 2.8GHz, 2048 OCZ ram etc etc nothing overclocked.

    please help!

Artifacting like the pic shows is a classic sign of overheating...did you remove he whole cooler from the card? And when you put it back on did you clean the gpu and put new thermal paste on it?

It could also mean a dying card...but check the cooler first.

6 months - should be in warranty so. Back to the shop for a replacement - no mention of tinkering though!
