Is it possible to pick up BBC Radio 2, 3 or 4 in Dublin ? I can get BBC 5 on MW, but couldn't get the others. I have a radio with fm/mw/lw/sw, but couldn't find them on any. I tried them on the settings from an English newspaper -
    BBC4 on 92.4-94.6 Mhz etc

    Thanks for any help.

Radio 4 on 720 on the AM/long wave band. I used to get it well in my last car, a Toyota, but my current Ford doesn't have a good aerial so it's faint and scratchy.

In the house, I can get it well upstairs, but not on the TEAC radio downstairs.

If you have cable, you can also get it that way.

That's brilliant luckat, thanks a lot, managed to get B4 on that frequency, but only when I'm in the back of the house, not the front !

    198 khz.

Luke you will need to rotate the radio when tuning distant MW and LW stations. You will probably get intermittent fading as well.

At night reception of distant long wave signals can be a problem as propagation conditions vary after dark.

If you have pipe i.e. the FM socket on NTL box, you will get the stations you mentioned loud and clear. Otherwise, for outdoor listening its the whistles and whines....

FM reception using just an indoor aerial is not possible in most parts of Dublin.

As UrbanFox said, NTL has them. This is from the old NTL website, (web archive is handy!) the FM frequencies are not on the new site, but this is still current.

Free-to-air satellite is a good option too.... if you have a Sky digibox, you can tune them in for free. Have a look here.

A good discussion a while ago about reception here

A lot depend on having a good quality radio, so spending a few bucks on a decent one pays dividends.

Before I move out of Dublin a good number of years ago, I could get BBC4 on FM. The radio I had could pick up the signal from the Cable supply coming into the house.

The Radio was a Sony RDS (Model ICF M50RDS), a great radio that I still use today. I bought it 12 years ago and I cost me 80 quid at the time.

BBC radio is the reason I have cables strung throughout the attic and into various rooms! Pity is NTL/UPC in Waterford is completely crap at maintaining a reliable feed for UK radio.

I first got a Philips streamium, which was rubbish, you had to go through their website to add channels, it was very awkward to use.

Now I have a Logik IR100 which is much easier, its one of the best things I've ever bought.
