On a week to week basis what is the best way to wash the car IE what should be added to the water to keep that Shine. What is best for cleaning glass.. both sides. How often should a car be polished. I might as well do this the right way from the start.
    Look forward to any ideas

I'm not proclaiming to be an expert on this, but the following works for me...for washing I use 2 separate sponges, one for the wheels one for the bodywork.
I use Turtle Wax car wash, which includes a wax. Before washing, rinse off surface dirt first and during washing regularly rinse out the sponge with cold water to prevent grit damaging the paintwork. When finished dry with chamois cloth - I bought a 'black magic' brand cloth which works quite well but is pricey (20 euros). Once a month apply a wax to keep the shine, again I use a separate product from Turtle Wax for this. I'm sure there are better waxes etc but the price is right :)

Any car shampoo is OK to use, but they don't create the shine. Worth buying a wash mitt instead of using a sponge, they creat less scratches and swirl marks. Theres a few good glass cleaners out. I use Meguiars NXT glass cleaner, but I find the glass steams up more with it. Other options are AG Glass polish and Turtle Wax do a class cleaner thats supposed to be good, too. Cars don't need to be polished too often if it's sealed with a good wax.

    Have a look here http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/guides.html
Plenty of information on all aspects of car care.

Buy a decent car shampoo, meguiars is fairly good, don't use washing up liquid as it dries out the paint and removes any wax thats on the car.
Dry the car with a waffle weave microfiber towel, do a search on ebay for collinite wax, this stuff lasts for about six months and looks great...far better then autoglym or turtlewax.

    Neil.
