Wireless Card Problem

I recently got a Edimax Wireless card for my Laptop and am having real problems getting it to work. I've followed the instructions included and installed it using the software provided. I also did it through XP, bypassing the included software, but to no avail. The icon in the taskbar tray says that the connection is strong and that the signal is good, yet when I have tried to get online it tells me that the connection is weak. I have inputted the WEP etc. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be or does anyone have a step by step way of doing it? thanks in advance

Go to the "Services" section of the "Performance & Maintenance" - "Administrator Tools" in control panel & scroll down to near the end, disable the "Wireless Zero Configuration". See if that helps any.
