    Hi Guys,

    More help needed.

The old fella is driving a 00 Ford Escort, he has noticed lately when taking off in 1st gear the car is very slow to get moving.
Does anyone have any idea whats could be causing this before we take it for service?

    Thanks
    Irish

are the engine revs increasing and the car's not moving with it? or is it just that the engine won't accelerate. is it jerky?

The brakes / handbrake shoes may have seized on. Strange, but I have heard of isolated cases of this. You will get alot of heat if driving for a few minutes from around the wheels if this is the case. If this is suspicious, jack up the car an check all wheels rotate freely once its not in gear.

When my catalyst was dying the car felt like it was down 50% on power throughout the gears due to a partially blocked exhaust. Always a chance of this also.

Im wondering if its a slippy/dying clutch.
